Howe of Fife
Welcome

Welcome

Heids and Herts Scotland was established to foster social connection across North East Fife by encouraging wider access and participation in art and creative activities. We are working alongside community builders to tackle the stigma around Social Isolation and Loneliness. Government data reveals that 15,000 (one in every four adults) across our North East Fife communities feel lonely some or all of the time.

We passionately believe that Arts and culture can foster a sense of community and belonging. By creating spaces for people to come together and share their experiences, art can help build strong bonds between individuals and communities. Our connection to other people and our community is fundamental to protecting our mental health, and we need to find better ways of tackling the epidemic of loneliness.

‘My Village Hall’ – A Short Film and Podcast Project

Our ‘My Village Hall’ project was funded by the Rural Communities Ideas into Action fund, supported by the Scottish Government and delivered by Inspiring Scotland to encourage and support innovative approaches to community-led local development in rural communities across Scotland.

North East Fife, with its rolling hillsides, farmland and coastal views, has the largest population of all 7 Areas of Fife. The Village halls and community spaces dotted across the town and villages are essential creative spaces for providing cultural activities and building emotional, solid, creative, expressive and collaborative dimensions that create spaces for dialogue, community gathering, sharing and celebration, social interaction and collaboration.

Heids and Herts are working alongside local people and groups to build social capital by binding people from various backgrounds and ages together in shared experiences.
