Welcome

At Heids and Herts Scotland, we believe in the transformative power of the arts to foster connection and community. Established to serve the vibrant communities of North East Fife and East Neuk, our charity is dedicated to expanding everyone's access to arts and creative activities.

In a world where social isolation and loneliness are increasingly pervasive, our mission is clear: to work alongside dedicated community builders to break the stigma surrounding these issues. Government data reveals that a staggering 15,000 adults—one in four—in North East Fife and the East Neuk regularly grapple with feelings of loneliness. It's not just a statistic; it's a call to action.

We are passionate advocates for the impact of arts and culture on community well-being. Our programs and events provide welcoming spaces for individuals to gather, share their experiences, and engage in creative expression. Art is more than just a form of self-expression; it is a powerful tool that enhances social bonds and fosters a profound sense of belonging. By weaving creativity into the fabric of our community, we can combat the growing epidemic of loneliness one connection at a time. Our initiatives not only enrich lives but also contribute significantly to the protection of mental health and well-being. Join us in our mission to create a more connected, supportive, and vibrant community. Together, we can harness the power of the arts to build bridges, break down barriers, and cultivate lasting relationships throughout North East Fife and East Neuk.

My Village Hall was one of our very first projects and marked the beginning of Heids and Herts Scotland’s work with rural communities. Through a short film, we started conversations with village halls across the Howe of Fife, listening to local voices and exploring how these shared spaces support connection, creativity, and community life.

The project was supported by the Rural Communities Ideas into Action Fund, with backing from the Scottish Government, and delivered in partnership with Inspiring Scotland. It helped lay the foundations for our later expansion across North East Fife and the East Neuk.

The film is still available to watch and offers a snapshot of our earliest community conversations. .
